Words mould views - and often distort them too. This glossary exists to clarify terms used when talking about the homeless, public policies and social rights. Here, each definition is an invitation to reflect and listen. Because understanding is the first step towards respect. And nobody transforms what they can't name.

What is Solidaritas?
Solidaritas (pronounced Solidáritas) is a public journalism project dedicated to transforming the way society views homeless people. Our aim is to give voice, face and context to people who are often invisibilised, fighting stigma with clear information, active listening and a commitment to human rights. Here, the street is not treated as a problem, but as a starting point for reflection, mobilisation and action. Inspired by initiatives such as The Big Issue e Invisible People, we create reports, interviews, videos and dossiers that show both the structural causes of exclusion and the solutions that already exist - and just need to be implemented. We operate on the basis of a human rights-based approach that puts dignity and participation at the centre of communication.
🧭 Solidaritas is your compass against prejudice. Here the street gains a voice, the stigma is broken down and citizenship is rebuilt with information, real stories and action.
