Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data displayed in the comments form, as well as the IP address and browser ID, to help detect spam.
An anonymised string created from your email (also called a hash) can be provided to the Gravatar service to verify that you use it. Gravatar's privacy policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment has been approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of the comment.
Media
If you upload images to the site, avoid uploading images that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract this data from the images available on the site.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on the site, you can choose to save your name, e-mail address and website in cookies. This is for your convenience, so you don't have to fill in your details again when you make another comment. These cookies last for one year.
When you visit our login page, a temporary cookie will be created to check that your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, cookies will be created to save your login information and screen display preferences. Login cookies last two days; screen preference cookies last one year. If you select "Remember me", the login will be kept for a fortnight. When you log out, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. It contains no personal data, only the ID of the newly edited post. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other sites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (such as videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other sites behaves in the same way as if the visitor were accessing the original site.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including if you have an account and are logged in to these websites.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we keep your data
If you leave a comment, it and its metadata will be stored indefinitely. This is so that we can automatically recognise and approve subsequent comments.
Users who register on the site (if applicable) will have their personal information stored in their user profiles. All users can view, edit or delete their information at any time (except their username). Site administrators can also access and edit this information.
What are your data rights?
If you have an account on this website or have left comments, you can request an exported file with the personal data we hold about you, including that which you have provided to us. You can also request the deletion of this data, except for that which we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security reasons.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments can be analysed by an automatic spam detection service.
