I'm a journalist, a public health researcher and, in my spare time, a translator of bureaucratese into good old plain Portuguese. I've been through newspaper editorial offices, scientific congresses and many SUS forms - and I'm still here, trying to make information become law.
I started at Jornal do BrasilI wrote about science and health in the 1990s. I covered everything from the discovery of the top quark particle to the anti-asylum struggle and the creation of the SUS. I even won the José Reis Newspaper AwardI was awarded a scientific prize by the CNPq, but the real prize was always when someone said: "ah, now I get it!". Because understanding is the first step to demanding.
Later, in 2015, I joined Fiocruz as a civil servant and public health researcher. I've become familiar with topics such as rare diseases, health economics, climate and the environment. I always keep an eye on how these discussions, which sometimes seem to be from another planet, affect the lives of those on the crowded bus, at the health centre or queuing for social benefits.
I created the newsletter Bioethics for All People and the blog Patient Academy..
On SolidaritasI do what I like best: combine quality information with language that makes sense. Here, there's no promise of a miracle, but there are step-by-step instructions, empathetic explanations and, when necessary, even a little joke in the middle - because if life is hard, information doesn't have to be either.
If you've ever given up on understanding a public policy because it seemed Greek, this blog is for you. Because knowledge is power - and nobody lets go of anyone's hand when they have clear information in the other.
Shall we go together?

I'm a social worker by training, where looking and listening are present. My career has been built alongside children, adolescents, families and communities in contexts of vulnerability, with special dedication to popular education, institutional analysis and productive inclusion.
I have worked as a public and private manager for decades on projects aimed at social justice, always believing in the strength of community organisation and the power of public policies built with participation. I have experience in coordinating and managing projects. At Solidaritas, I bring with me attentive listening, ethical commitment and the constant desire to contribute to a fairer and more supportive world.
