The initiative combines free services with training and community interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Why it matters:<\/strong> The policy reduces the burden of domestic labour on women, especially black and low-income women. It also strengthens support networks and economic autonomy in the territories.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83e\udde0 <strong>What's happening:<\/strong> The municipality is in dialogue with the town hall and communities to set up laundries in Serrinha and Alto da Derrubada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The units are part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/mds\/pt-br\/acoes-e-programas\/brasil-que-cuida\/plano\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">National Care Plan<\/a> and offer washing, drying and training.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd0d <strong>Between the lines:<\/strong> The project is committed to care as a structuring policy, not just as a basic service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The experience in Caruaru (PE) shows a high social impact, with around 200 people attending every day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udfc3 <strong>To summarise:<\/strong> Petr\u00f3polis is moving towards adopting a public policy that has already been tested and approved in other territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The proposal combines infrastructure, training and community empowerment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\uddbc\ufe0f <strong>The big picture:<\/strong> R$ 13 million will be invested in 17 laundrettes across the country, in partnership between ministries.
